I live in a small town so it's kind of hard to get a dramatic "downsy" shot. Therefore I went through my file photos and did come up with this picture from last summer.
This shot is looking down to the falls at Pillsbury Crossing on Deep Creek near Manhattan, Kansas To take the photo I was perched on the very edge of the hill overlooking the falls and crossing area. If you look towards the left top of the picture you can see the road that fords the creek, thus the name 'Pillsbury Crossing'. In the 1800's a family of early settlers gave their name to the natural flat limestone area which was perfect for crossing the creek. The road is still in use today-while I was on the hilltop two pickups and a UPS Delivery Truck made use of the crossing. It's a popular cooling off place for the local population, including many Kansas State University students, so I had to get there early to avoid a crowd. |
