This challenge had me wondering how my camera would meter a white-on-white subject. I knew wouldn't be very accurate but it wasn't even in the ballpark at 1/40 sec and f/2.8 (flash on,ISO 100). At those settings, this prize-winning shot of an egg on a piece of paper was completely, utterly blown out. The successful settings were 1/80 sec and f/11(flash on, ISO 100)

Hi Toshi...
Great shot, I really appreciate the texture of the egg, and shadow. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing (white egg on white surface/ paper).... great minds think alike? But the eggs I currently have in my fridge are 'light brown shells'... so can't do that! Well exposed photo. Thanks for sharing. Paul |
