Two days before Christmas we took our visitors on a tour of the 'touristy' bits of some of the more easily accessible National Parks and ended up at Dorrigo. This shot was taken from the end of the 90 metre long, 21 metre high Skywalk at the Rainforest Centre which juts out dizzily over the rainforest canopy. The wind was chasing the low level clouds across a sea of fog being drawn up from the valley below.
![]() The 'islands' are the uppermost reaches of McGrath's Hump. Dorrigo National Park is part of the Dorrigo Plateau, which rises to 1586 metres above sea level, and was formed by lava flows from the enormous Ebor Volcano, active until 18 million years ago. This volcano once spanned 45 kilometres and rose to a height of 2000 metres. McGrath's Hump is a remnant, isolated by erosion, of this enormous volcano. Bernice

Not too obvious that the winds are howling but I found your shot quite good with the levels of shadows in the trees in the foreground.

Thanks selvin for the comment. Yes, I guess it 'feels' windy to me. The clouds were moving quickly across the face of McGrath's Hump obliterating it , then letting it peek through, then obliterating again all within seconds. At times, by the time the shutter had closed, all I got was a white out, so I was immensely aware I was 'racing against the wind' in taking this pic.
Cheers Bernice
