I didn't think I was going to be able to come up with anything for this bi-weekly challenge. Even my archive shots would have only been a kite surfer or a sailboat.
However, I took a couple of pictures day before yesterday that qualify. They aren't very good since I was shooting through the windshield in a car traveling 45+ mph after the sun had gone behind a mountain. But you get the idea. Blowing sand across the desert: ![]() ![]() I wasn't about to get out and try to take better pictures. |

That's one heck of a sandstorm developing. Reminds me of those newsphotos of the dust storms engulfing China or back in the Dust Bowl days earlier this century.
Good work at 45+mph. Selvin |

There's no way you will shot a bad picture. Even from a car at 45 mph. Amazing.

Thank you, Ordo, for such a compliment - you haven't seen all my rejects (which are numerous).
The sandstorm ended up not amounting to all that much, and by morning it was calm. It made for a cool sight and some neat snaps more than anything else. As a teenager with a brand new drivers license I drove through a much worse sandstorm. I didn't even realize what it was at the time, thought I was driving through fog or something, it was that dark-grey all over. Got off the freeway and discovered that I had been driving with a huge tail-wind, and the grey was blowing sand. The car (my parents) needed a paint job after that. This one just brought to mind old Western movies and ghost towns, no sand-blasted paint job. |

Very nicely done. I love how the road just kind of disappears into the sandstorm.

Thanks, it does look like the road falls off into the abyss. It really doesn't - it goes down the hill and then makes a sharp right turn. But it's fun to think of it getting swallowed up by the blowing sand.
