My parents were Salvation Army officers. As a youth I spent many a chilly hour ringing a bell or tooting my cornetand standing at a kettle stand like this one. I can't pass one by today without stuffing a bill in the red kettle.

Well, I'd rather hear that guitar than the incessant bell ringing. I hate those d--n bells.

Nice photo.

My Grandmother used to go out every Christmas to ring the Salvation Army Bells at the Corner of Halsted and 60th Ave. I never truly understood what she was doing until lately.

A few years ago one of the larger dept stores here didn't allow them out front and the barrage of criticism started.

Aloha for a great seasonal shot.
