Guess they didn't want the fence on one side or the other of the tree. Quite interesting!

Perhaps it was a compromise between the two neighbors, who couldn't agree on who owned the tree.

Reminds me of the ongoing Israel/Palestine land debate.

It sort of reminds you you of the age old debate: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? In this case, which came first, the fence or the tree. I think in most states, if a tree planted on a neighbor's property and part or all of hangs over your property, you have the legal right to cut the portion on your side of the fence. In this case, however, I like what has been done. It shows several years worth of struggle with the tree. The patching of the fence is not the best engineered job I have seen but it sure makes an interesting picture.

Incidentally, scientist have recently proven that the egg came first. Don't ask me how they did it.
