how I hate to see another unnecessary giant shopping mall rising in the centre of the nearby Welsh town of Wrexham, where I do my shopping. It'll stranglemore of the lovely little specialist town centre shops, and it's on the site where there was a thriving, hugeweekly market only a couple of years ago. The weekly open market's still nearby, but a tiny shadow of its former self, due to astronomical rents for pitches.
It's a fine life as a property developer, but not so good if you're a small shopkeeper, well in tune with your customers' needs. |

I think every letter of the alphabet is represented in this photo...the numbers, too.
It's called development but what is wrong with the old? Someday there will be more of these steel "trees" than the kind that shed their leaves. I saw at least a dozen of these cranes as I drove through central Portland, yesterday. Cal |
