Default Food for Thought - Slave Huts

These small structures on the Caribbean island of Bonaire were used to house slaves brought in from Africa in the 1600's. Each is barely big enough for 2 or 3 adults to lay down.

African Slavery as practiced in the Dutch colonies was often criticized as being amongst the harshest of the colonial powers. The controversy regarding which colonial power meted out the harshest treatment continues to today.
In any event, what might initially appear as "shabby chic" vacation villas was anything than that.
