Default Book Jacket : Experiment : The Da Vinci Code

I think you will forgive me if none of the layers of this book jacket come from a shot of mine !
I really had some problem at shooting at the original stuff

Still, this is an experiment.
I'm not perfeclty happy about the final result, however ekimes signature and posts have made me curious about the grunge look.
Something very very distant from my technique : so, why not to experiment something new ?

P.S. :
Layer 0 :
- Should I say it ?

Layer 1 :
- Black bg
- A snapshot of some Leonardo writing ( inverse bw )
- Black brush to remove writing around the head
- Author and titles in white (Zephyr font)
- Author and title selection and Sketch\Torn Edges filter
- Deselect
- Texture\Texturizer\Canvas Texture
- Layer blend mode set to Darken

Back To Layer 0 :
- some random dodge and burn tool brushes on the areas below author and text

I don't know if it is a pure Grunge look or not, however it was fun !

Default Experiment

I like the image and can well appreciate the desire to experiment. One of the ways we learn is by doing. Sometimes it works and sometimes we delete the image. In this case it worked.

Nice job.

I've heard this book is quite controversial. I haven't read it and have only heard a little about it but from what I've heard, you've done an excellent job with this challenge!

You may not be completely happy with it, but I think it worked extremely well. Perhaps your unhappiness comes from the eyes of Mona Lisa, which should probably not be quite so blinded.

(I'm waiting in line for this book at the library.)

I think it is a great effort.
The only thing I could think of to make you happier is if the Mona Lisa wasn't so decayed and if the font was made slightly transparent instead of the edges being burnt or what ever you've done.

It's a lot easier to make suggestions than create something isn't it?
