This carving of a colorful dragon is at the front a racing rowboat. The boat is long and narrow and has a crew of about 10-12 people, two abreat, who row the boat in a race. These boats come from Japan and are raced on the Willamette River in Portland, OR during the annual Portland Rose Festival.

I must admit, this is a cheat. It is a scanned 35mm color negative shot about four years ago. I did an auto contrast adjustment, converted to grayscale, and really "squeezed" the histogram to boost the contrast. Done with PSP9.

First shot is converted B/W image, second is original color.

ahh cal...don't worry about scanned film...that's cool here

i was telling this to someone before, but film isn't a bad word here

although might be on the rest of the site :-p

this is a nice image...it's actually tough to pick which i like better...

you have some really nice tones in the black and white, and the lines and texture are very good..

but then you got the color version, with the eyepopping color!

either one is nice cal

thanks for posting the color version with it
