Scanned 35mm negatives. This is the South end and most spectacular part of the Astoria bridge accross the mouth of the Columbia river. The second picture will make you dizzy if you look at it long enough! The bridge deck is curved like a road over the top of a hill, but I think there is some lens distortion exhibited here, also.

Hi Cal,

Love the slightly broodingperiod feel to the top pic.The bottom one is justlovely, & I think beautifully photographed. What a bridge!

Both are quite good although I would have personally preferred a bit of lightening on the first.

The composition in the second one is both technically good and metaphorically good. A manmade structure spans the area between two nature-made things.

I'm almost getting dizzy from the heights looking at that second picture, seems like a jolly RollerCoaster ride. The framing with the trees kind of give uniformity to the image, bringing in some other shades of green.

Love the lighting, gives depth to the structure. Was it early morning or late afternoon? (there's a bit of sun creeping into the underside of the bridge, so I guess it was lowish...)
