Here is a shot of Old Glory taken through a piece of metallic art ribbon held far enough from the lens to catch the sparkles from the sun off the metallic threads in the ribbon. I manually focused on the flag and then held the ribbon in front of the lens to get the picture. The second picture below shows what the ribbon looks like. It is about two inches wide.

Nikon D100, Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 lens, manual focus, hand-held.

It took imagination for that one Cal. Old Glory could never ask for better surroundings.

good idea man!

cool look!

i'm thinking it might be cool to try another one, cutting out some of the ribbon...just a couple of the 'threads' here and there, to show through more of the flag..

also, if you use a longer focal length, you might be able to get those hott colored OOF "circles" bigger :-D
