Here are a couple scanned 35mm slides of windsurfers on the Columbia River near the town of Hood River. Hood River is known as the "Windsurfing Capitol of the World". There is always a pretty strong wind blowing down the Columbia and on a warm summer day it is not unusual to see literally hundreds of windsurfers out on the river.

In this second shot, there are ten windsurfers and two kite surfers. In kite surfing, the sail is replaced by a parafoil kite that flies about a hundred feet above the board.

You might have to enlarge this picture a bit to see the three windsurfers on the far side of the river.

They look like they are having a great time but the first thing that comes to my mind is that I'd love to see a close up of that guys face as he is trying to adjust the sails. I do like these because it tells a great story of action on the river!
