This is a multi-dimensional challenge. It should provide enough flexibility to allow everyone to tackle it from a variety of perspectives. Please indicate which perspective you're submitting. e.g. The Blues:Color, or The Blues:Emotion, or The Blues:Music

The Blues.

Think of Blue in color -- flowers, the sky, balloons, anything blue in color.

Blue emotions -- remember Picasso's blue period with its melancholy subjects among other things, ever had those Monday morning blues? capture them, show us really how you feel.

For the musically inclined -- how about the soul wrenching Blues. I'm talking about the type started by WC Handy, immortalized by Bessie Smith and so forth. Use your imagination to give us an interpretation.

Now, since some of these perspectives are very idiosyncratic, please give us some explanation of how or why.

As acourtesy, I've also noted that other forums, sites etc. ask that the photog submit where possible, when and where the photo was taken, the equipment, and as noted above a description. How about starting that as a practice so that others can benefit from your work.

Some samples:

A blue Agapanthus flower, Honolulu HI, Minolta Dimage A200, 1/100, F3.5, ISO 125

Blowing the Blues in Hilo HI, taken with a Minolta Dimage S404, 1/256s, F3.6 ISO 64. This fellow sat outside a Farmer's market wailing away soulfully not much talent but lots of passion.

and finally, look at the kid on the leftI think he's got a bad case of the blues wistfully looking at....

Taken with an Olympus 730UZ, Honolulu HI, 1/250s, F3.5, ISO 64

Obviously, color. But also music. The picture shows wave interactions, of the sort that make music possible. An examination of wave motion, constructive interfernce, and refraction.

Taken with a Pentax *istDS. f 1.8 85mm SMC Takumar

Swimming pool in darkness. Camera at low angle, onboard flash, underexposed so just the crests are light colored.

This was taken with my nikon 4500 in Iceland at the edge of their giant glacier

f=3.3, 1/2000 second, ISO 100 at 7.8mm

Colour, though also mood i guess - since the ice is melting from global warming

The glacier is the one melting a relatively high speed.
