One of the sad commentaries on modern society involves preying on young children. Kidnapping a child strikes terror combined with a sense of helplessness. Fortunately, the new "Amber Alert" system helps track down missing children...but much more needs to be done.
I tried to capture the emotion in the following two submissions. Canon 20D, 24-70L @ 34mm, f8, 1/320th. |

Walter, it is amazing how you can create a photo for the challenge and create a message in the photo at the same time. Great work.

Very powerful message. In my perception shot #1 reflects a sense of loneliness and danger. I think it is well captured.
Shot #2 pulls me more toward the lost innocence of a child and thestruggle of love and support the sunflower isdisplaying but also the brutality of the human race through the shoe cradled within the flowers leaves. I know this probably doesn't make sense but it is the only way I can explain these powerful images. Love the shots, sends an excellent message. Lan |

Cal. Thanks. We're often reminded that the best photographs convey a story or a message. I've tried to keep that in mind as I look for opportunities to meet the current challenge.
Lan, thank you for sharing your reactions. Much appreciated. It's nice to see you here and hope you'll share some photos of your beautiful country in the future. Maybe a Koala in a Sushi bar, or something like that. |

I've been looking at another entry using shoes and the shoes there are used to denote possible future gang violence.
http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=85 Shoes here are of course meant to convey a totally different sense but also one of violence directed at an unfortunate victim also. It's rermarkable how a single household item can bring out these emotions. Walter, very nice work. Aloha |

Very nice job Walter. Great amount of thought went into your compositions. I mean more than the photo with that comment.
Cheers, Bill |

Ahhh Walter...you're getting to me with this one. Very powerful photos.
So whose shoe is it? a grandchild? a neighbor? Hey kid, can I borrow your shoe? |
