Excellent shot, squirl. I'll let you answer selvin's question but my guess is that you tried to off center the lamp just to break it up a little (not sure we can call it "rule of thirds" since the subject almost fills the entire frame).

I agree with Selvin, I like the way we get the perspective through the lamp as well as around it. nice silhouette.

i just moved it off center so it wouldn't look quite so symmetrical, and so there would be more of the background visible to the side. ths subject fills the frame enough that the rule of thirds couls safely be ignored here, but a little asymetry is often a good thing anyway... :G
