The price of A95 has dropped and we hear that the reatilers do not refresh their stocks of this camera. Looks like the successor is to be announced.

I think Canon will announce an "unbeatable" camera for the entry-level cameras.

Take all the specifications of the A95,

a) change the lens with the brighter (largest aperture 2.6) and longer zoom (4x) lens.

b)Reduce the number of batteries to 2.

(we already see these in A510 and A520)

c) Don't forget to update the movie mode with VGA resolution minimum 30 fps and unlimited in time.

...and here you have a wonderful camera.
I hope canon doesn't miss the movie point. If they don't, i think this can be a really unbeatable camera.

Okay - I will also wait for it!

- hopefully the price is not to high for it!

BTW - what was the starting price of the A95?

I think it will be around 400$. But this is just personal opinion:)

And don't forget to replace CF by little SDmemory card, to replace DIGIT by fastest DIGIT II and makes new quick buttons menus like Panasonic LZ : and OOOKKKKKKAAAYYYY : I buy one immediately at any price, sure!!!

Yes! And make it metal. And give us manual control. Keep the flash output control. Two AA's would be nice. I do prefer CF because they work with my SLR so how about either CF or SD? The swing out screen rocks. Keep it 5MP please! Low noise is better than suppressed noise.
How about black? Thanks for fantasizing!

My requests for the A95 successor (A530):

7.1 megapixels, 1/1.6" sensor

5x optical zoom lens

2.0" rotating LCD

DIGIC II with unlimited VGA 30FPS and continuous shooting

I know this is impossible to fit into an A520 body so the A530 can be slightly larger than the A520 but smaller than the A95. There you have it - A perfect camera which can probably blow away the Sony V3 as well!

So, does anyone know when this new model might come? I really like the A95, but at this point I'm considering the A520 because it has two batteries which is much easier on a backpack-holiday (less weight and a bit smaller).

I spend a lot of time reading reviews and the conclusion is that the cameras with 2xAA are all suffering in flash mode, double delay and a bit of lower distance.
Myself I am not sure to buy a95 or a520.
I preffer the heavy 4AA from a95 to get the flash in about 4 sec, but I like the lens more wide and the good tele of 520.
If I could order a custom camera I ask for a520 but with 4AA.

I'm not so pleased by myA510 in replacement of my A60,

inallsituations the A60 didn't failed, but withthe A510 about

10% of my shots are not good:

-I have sometimes noise even at iso50 in some blue areas or on skin,

-a lot of zoomed photos orinterior photoshave blur and it seems

like focusing is made on 50cm when it should be 5 meters, or5 meters

when it should be infinite,

-almost allinterior portraits or group portraits with flash arereally too yellow,

and the comparison with auto White Balance of my A60 in these conditions is

incredible, I thinkcanon changes the flash but don't change the AWB setting with

this new flash.

-you can't do anything for 8 seconds when taking a photo with flash (even if you want to see the resulting image or take another shot without flash).

-you know you have to change batteries 30 seconds before it's off, and it's difficult to take a shot without moving with only one hand (I prefer 4 AA with a 500 shot capacity!).

-the only thing that isreally better, iso200 shots are quite aceptable without too much noise and LCD and viewfinderare better.
