This is a question but it MAY lead to what camera I should buy so if this is in the wrong spot sorry......

What is the difference in picture sharpness between the 10 meg and the 7 meg for example the canon a640 and the canon a710. Do you think the IS is a big deal compared to more mega pix of the a640? I really liked the 640 until I learned about the IS wich I have NO experiance I dont know if I need it or want more mega pix.

Any thoughts or opinions will be appreciated we all know how crazy it makes one trying to figure out what to buy and the less experiance the worse it is I think.

I am not well versed in cameras what I want is general all around I like to travel on my Harley so the size of the 640/710 I like. I like to take pics of the grand kids etc, I have been ok with the fuji f700 but I am sure you all know they had problems and it is in getting fixed. But I do want a little more camera. I am going to make a purchase soon as I figure out what I need to buy ha ha ha.

Thanks to all.

Unless you want to make a very large print (16 X 20 or larger) or do extreme cropping you won't see any sharpness difference between 7 and 10Mp. You will have to do less cropping with the extra optical zoom on the A710.

There are limited light situations where stabilization will give sharper photos.
