I wonder if the lever is not moved inadvertently when shooting.
I noticed that the Nikon equivalents use two buttons on the body to control the zoom.. |

I never move it inadvertenly but, I would prefer something in the back of the camera better. That being said, once you do get used to it, it works fairly well.

I have no problem with the zoom lever though I would prefer a 2-way rocker swicth on the top of the camera.

Used A70 over 3 weeks on vacation, took lots of pix, never had a problem with the zoom lever.

Not a chance on that..
Since you are pushing the shutter button downwards but the zoom applying sidewards force to zoom switch.. In some ways (for example frequent shots) it comes more handy.. |

I think it is ok. I have sometimes been using two hands to hold the camera though, just makes it steadier. I think the big grip in the front makes it do-able to use just one hand, without it I believe this would be awkward as heck.

I upgraded from an a40 which does have it on the back. Just my personal prefrence, but I like it beter once I got used to it. I usaly shoot holding the camera with both hands though. Trying it with one hand is kind of akward.

My other camera has the zoom lever on the back, and at first I didn't like how it was placed on the A70, but with the time I find it more and more convenient, because now you can change zoom without loosing the grip on the camera. In fact, it seems to be the common tendency with the new camera generation. I don't think using two buttons for that is a good idea - it makes adjusting zoom more laborious.
