About to purchase SX10 IS...a few ?s

Hi there. You should know up front I have limited photography knowledge, but I've been reading posts here for awhile. Please excuse how basic my questions are, but I figure once I make my purchase I can start learning!

I have decided to purchase the Canon SX10 IS. Amazon has it for $355. I am inclined to buy it here since they have accessories and I have other purchases to make anyway. Is there any reason to order it somewhere else?

Also, I've been reading about the eneloop batteries and am going to get some. We own a charging station for rechargeables. Will the eneloops work in this or do I need to buy the eneloop package that includes a charger? I figure I need 2 sets (so, 8 batteries).

Lastly, memory card: poking around amazon I see that many people have purchased the Kingston 8GB SDHC Class 6 ($21) for this camera. I planned to as well. Is this a good choice?

I think that's it. I apologize if I sound boneheaded. I just want to get everything I need all at once so I can start playing right away!

TIA!
Therese

Tia-

www.amazon.com now has the SX-10 down to $306.34. Eneloop batteries can be charged with any charger designed for Nickel metal Hydride batteries. You only need a faster SD chip if you are going to be doing lots of video clips or you use the Burst Mode regualrly. For still photos any cheap SD card will work just fine.

Kingston 8GB SDHC Class 6 works ok with SX10, you would need the Sandisk Extreme III etc for SX1(4fps continuous, HD video), but for SX10 Kingston class 6 is ok.
Sanyo Eneloop are Low Self Discharge NiMH batteries, any NiMH charger will work, BUT...
You will shorten your batteries life if you trickle charge them.(leave them in the charger and the standby charging slowly cooks your batteries to death)
It is recommended that you use smart charger for NiMH, something which charges the cells individually in 1-3 hours.

Here is a link to a good fast SD card at a good price. I have delt with these people and they are fast and safe.

Therese-

I also learned today that Fry's Electronics stores are selling the Canon SX-10 camera for $300.00 in their retail outlets. I have not been able to verify that statement, but it might be worth a phone call if you have a Fry's store near you.

Never heard of Fry's and I already pulled the trigger at Amazon. I've wanted the thing for so long, I can live with the $344. Now I just have to learn how to use it!
