I've been looking at getting a Canon SD450 (want the smaller size than my A95) but have been waiting till I take another hiking trip where I need the smaller size/weight. With a short such trip coming up, I have been on the verge of buying. I see today that at CESSony and Fuji announced compact digicams with ISO 1000 and 1600 respectively. The Sony (at 6-megapixel) is going to list for $200.
Any rumors of Canon having anything in the works for the SD lineup? For me, resolution of 5-7 megapixels is as much as I need. Improved low-light performance would be worth waiting a while for, though.
I know on the A95 with a max ISO of 400, things get pretty noisy at200 and especially400. In nicer cameras that already have a higher ISO option (the S-lineup orDSLR's), are the pics pretty clean at 200 and 400, with 600-1000 being noisy? I'm assuming the newer, more sensitive cameras would be less noisy compared to earlier models at the same ISO.
