I have brought my camera in now 3 maybe 4 times. Out of the blue my camera says "Change the Battery" even if I've just put fresh batteries in it. They have never really found what the problem is. This last time they told me they (a local, well known camera repair shop) said it was probably from using regular batteries vs rechargeables. I've only had the camera 2 years. It worked for a bit after the last time I brought it in to be checked and now it's having problems again- I've put two sets of freshly charged batteries in it and it might work for a couple of shots and then I get the message and the camera is useless.

To be honest, I have no idea what the problem could be. But here a few things you could try:

1) Buy a new set of rechargeable batteries, they do die on occasion or end up with the memory effect (you could bring them back to life with a good charger).

2)Pull the button battery out of the S3 (and the normal batteries) and let it sit like that overnight. You will lose all settings, date and time, but maybe it could help resetting the camera.

That's all I can think of, sorry...

Also, make sure that thebattery and charger terminals are clean

Do eFilm rechargeables make any difference??? I tried three sets of new fully charged batteries. The terminals are clean. This is VERY frustrating- I can't be without my camera and I can't afford to get a new one.
