Chiapas, Mexico

Am on the verge of getting canon s2is for wildlife photography (cant afford a dslr with lenses yet, as mexican wages low!), some in low light or even at night. As the flash range on this camera is not much (4 metres with zoom)I wondered if there are slave flashes available that can be fixed to the camera? Would these allow me to take telephotoimages of wildlife for example at 30 feet or more

Also a little concerned about focusing problems or very soft images after reading several comments that the images arent that clear.

Also what telephoto converters would anyone recomend for this camera?

Yes, you can use a slave flash. Canon actually sells one that works with this camera.

I actually have an old Osram BCS44 Studio Falsh which is a bracket-mount flash that I use with my S2. Gives me a lot more distance for flash photography. Also, it has a built-in diffuser and the ability to turn the head left to right or up and down for bounce flash. I just put the flash in SERVO mode and it fires whenever the onboard S2 flash goes off.

So, I guess its safe to say you can use any flash that can be triggered by a master flash.

As far as teleconverters, The Olympus TCON17 is a highly recommended one. I am looking into getting one myself as I already have the lens adapter. Canon also makes one, but it is 1.5x and I think they are both similarly priced.
