After a long reading on digicams reviews, I'm quite sure Canon
in the compact size is the best choice mainly thanks the optical lens they use. Quality of lenses can be more important also than pixel numbers. So I think Canon 230 is better than some other competitors with 4 Megapixel cameras. Canon 230 should be better choice again if with 3X optical zoom. I like more optical zoom ( 3x instead of 2x ) and the 100 USD less on price of Canon 330 compare to Canon 230, but of course you have 2 Megapixel instead of 3.2. What's better selection from your point of view? more important the zoom and save money or the pixel ? |

Hello,
I can see several readers to my argument but no comments........... that I'll appreciate. I can explain better about 230 and 330: 230: more pixel ( 3,2 ), 2x optical zoom, probably improved electronics controls, red eye problems ?, price about 370 USD. 330: less pixel ( 2 ), 3X optical zoom, less compact size but more solid, price about 270 USD. My ideal choice could be 230 if with 3x instead of 2x, but not possible. Also value for money it's important form me and really 100 USD difference is nice. So, do you think to save money and have 3x zoom with 330 can compensate advantage of 230 with 3.2 Megapixel ? Consider a normal use on taking pictures, something more than point and shoot, but not as professional as we wish to be but in practical we have not time to be. Many thanks for your comments ! |

Greetings,
We all see things from our own perspective... I gave my S330 to a friend who really enjoys taking photographs and computers -- especially in a communititive fashion. She will have a good time and will learn stuff too boot. I kept the S230; it's smaller case and the 3 MP more than make up for the zoom -- in my opinion. The photos are what I expect from canon: the best from pocket cameras. I personally think they're better than everything but DSLRs, like my D100. I gave my S200 to my son, who continues to use it frequently. Some how, the older S200 camera still takes the best snapshots. Most often, I use the manual mode to fine tune, as a result of a lot of experience with the S-series. In the end, I have no advice but to get one of the Canon S-series. Best, Larry ([email protected]) |

Hi Larry ,
thanks for your point of view. May be, as balance of features, I'm orienting to prefer 230. For me the ideal camera, however, was to have the pixel and features of 230 inside the body of 330 with 3x zoom. I'm not completely agree policy of manufacturers to reduce continuonsly size of cameras and with size of 230 we are probably arrived to the limit. I read several users have problems of no sharp pictures moving the camera because of too small and light. Greetings Henry |
