How much recording time should there be with a 256 MB CF card in the middle resolution? Is the recording time shortened if the recording isn't continuous? Thanks

The A70 video clips in 320 x 240 can last up to 3 minutes. I have not tried a full 3 min. clip - but 640 x 480 in 30 sec. is about 20 MB!.
My guess is that a 3 min. clip in 320 x 240 is about 30 MB (4 times smaller picture but 6 times longer clip.). This gives 10 MB per minute. Conclusion: On a 256 MB card is room for 25 minutes clip. I don't think it matters whether all clips are 3 minutes. Cheers! |

CORRECTION:
I just discovered this: A 30 sec. movie clip in 320 x 240 is about 8 MB! New Conclusion: On a 256 MB card is room for 16 minutes clip in 320 x 240 mode (or 6,4 minutes in 640 x 480 mode)! |

I like the 640x480 mode for movies even thou it only gives you 3 min..
My movies look much better in that mode than the 320x200 mode. I have found that the size of the movie depends so much on what you are shooting. The less objects in the movie the smaller the size. My 30 sec movies average between 18-25 megs. so on a 256 you will get between 10 -14 movies. |
