hello everyone...
i've been doing a lot of research for about 2 or 3 months now, and i'm pretty impressed with the Panasonic DMC-FZ1 (or perhaps the higher resolution FZ10)... in any case, i've had experience with canon cameras in the past and i've been very happy with the results.. my question is: does Canon have an ultrazoom camera (non DSLR) available in the market right now? 3x or 4x optical just doesn't cut it for me.. i'm looking more towards a 10x or something like that (with image stabilizer). if they don't have such a camera, any signs of Canon manufacturing one in the near future? thanks for the help. |

No, they dont. It is a hole in Canon's product line that I would think they would want to fill. I'm considering the Minolta A1 (28mm - 200mm STABILIZED), but prefer Canon as a brand. I'll hold off until Feb when the new models are announced to see if Canon or others have anything new to look at. If not, the A1 looks like a great camera in this class.

The Pro90IS is (was) Canon's entry in this market. It's a wonderful camera and is available on the Web as a refurb or used.

Well there would be Toshiba's M700 ( if I remember corectlly), an ultra zoom 10X dc, with Canon lenses. Not the same thing I know, but quite a budget camera, (under 300$) with lots of accessories.
Though, since I'm at this moment looking 4 a digital camera myself I think I will turn to G3. /Bogdan |
