Default Change both shutter speed and exposure manually?

I recently bought a S400 camera which I'm very pleased with.
I've started more and more to use the manual-mode, including the long shutter mode.
I've tried to change the long shutter time and the exposure at the same time but I failed. I can only select one of them manually. Isn't it possible to control them both?

I also looked for the option to lock the shutter time or to lock the aperture but couldn't find it. Is the manual mode on s400 that limited?

No you cannot use both the long exposure with exposure compenssation at the same time. When exposure compensation mode is on the camera is basically automatic, with the ability to control exposure by -2 to 2EV from the auto exposure setting. On long exposure mode, the camera is manual, with full shutter control but for long exposures only.

To lock the aperture, first set apeture to centre weighted (up button until icon changes to little square). Shoot the subject you want to expose onto, then depress shutter button half way till hear clicking sound, but not shutter sound. While doing this, simultaneously press the (up button). An icon "AEL" should appear. You can now release the shutter button, and the exposure is now locked until you press the up button or turn off the camera. Setting the flash to force fire before exposure locking will result in "FEL" (Flash exposure lock). A test flash will fire to attain the exposure.

You can even lock the focus completely by doing the same procedure but depressing the landscape/macro button.

Hope this helps
