D10 Overexposure

Anyone else had problems with the D10 overexposing?

It seems to happen to me with outdoor/landscape shots- given that I bought it for mountaineering photography, that's a bit of a major problem for me.

Shots on normal settings appear washed out, with highlights blown and a generally thin appearance. Trial and error shows that setting between 1/3 and 1 stop of underexposure on the compensation function cures most of the problem, but I'm not sure why I should have to do this on a new camera.

The washed out colours- basically, very little saturation- can be remedied to an extent in Photoshop, but, again, I don't see why I'm having to work to correct what seems to be a Canon problem. Setting Vivid colours doesn't really help.

So, anyone had similar experiences, and any solutions?

I am not a D-10 owner. However, slight over exposure is not uncommon in cameras. I have several cameras where EV-0.3 is my default setting for normal operations.
