Is there a way by looking throught theEVF, to tell when the flash is recharged? I'm tired of taking a flash pic, then pressing the shutter for another one only to find the flash isn't ready to go. but if I wait a second or two and *don't* press the shutter, it works smoothly.

I need to find out when I can take another flash shot.

To the best of my knowledge, the only way to find out exactly when the flash has been recharged and is ready for the next shot, is to depress the shutter button half way and wait for the flash icon to stop blinking. The manual only states that one method to be able to tell, and I haven't found any other way while using the camera...

Slave flash? I don[t have a slave flash. I was just asking about the built in flash.

Thank you for the reply Mark. The flash lag is bothersome, but at least now I know how to tell when I can take a picture again.

Where in the manual did you find the information?

That little tidbit it best explained in the troubleshooting section on page 151 of the manual. I've found that some of this stuff you have to hunt for a bit in the manual - usually I just open the PDF file and search for a word - that seems faster than flipping thru the paper manual.

PDF file? I'd better look at the CD that came with the camera. No telling what tidbits I missed.:-)

Not sure if the manual came on the CD or not - I actually meant the PDF file of the S2 IS manual, which can be downloaded from Canon's web site at http://www.canon.ca/english/index-cu...rt.asp?pid=344

I just prefer the PDF file as it's easy to search for a specific word, rather than flipping through the paper manual.
