Help - User Guide S400

I just bought a Canon Ixus 400 (known as S400 in the US) in Paris yesterday. The user guide is in French only. I am looking for an English version. There was none on the accompanying CDs and Canon does not have them on their sites for download.

Would anyone know where I can get one/download one?

I can even swap it for the same guide in French (should that be of use to anyone!)

Thanks in advance

A basic online version for many of the Canon PowerShot cameras can be found on Canon's BeBit website. Specifically, the IXUS400 online manual can be found at: http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/IXUS400/index-e.html

As a warning, it sounds like you got an import camera. If you purchased it in the US but got only the french manual it is possible you were sold a camera which was not intended for the US market. That means that its warrenty is not valid in the US.

You should contact the company which sold it to you and ask if this is an import or "grey market" camera. They are cheaper, but they have no valid US warrenty, and could also come with the wrong power adapter or have the wrong TV out (not NTSC.) It is legal to sell these cameras, but if they said the warrenty is valid in the US then this is missrepresentation and is (I believe) illegal.

The link for the english versio of the camera manual is http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/.../S400_CUGe.pdf

Keep in mind, since you bought your camera in Paris, Canon USA will not honor the warranty because the warranty is offered by Canon Europe.

Thanks!

That's just brilliant - all I needed. You guys are more helpfull than those who sold me the camera.

I bought it here in Paris where I am currently living - so I think it's all legit stuff.

Many thanks again from sunny Paris (for once!)
