I intend to buy a Powershot G5 but after searching on net, I found that the G5 is $447 but the G3 is $579.
My question is why the 5.0MP like G5 is cheaper than the 4.0MP G3. Would appreciate your advices with many many thanks  |

Supply and demand. The G3 is discontinued and very hard to find.

![]() To my thought is people love the briliant silver color of G3 and there might be some factory faults in G5. Hoping that I am wrong ![]() The prices I've searched from butterflyphoto.com, a site that I had bought my S400 previously. It's a good supplier. |

Most actually prefer the black color of the G5 (I think). The G3 does have a bit better image quality. The 5 MP G5 does exhibit more noise and CA than the 4 MP G3. Buydig.com usually has decent prices on Canon as well.

The G5 is a gem. It's function setup is better than any camera I've ever used, including Rebel and FZ10, and it's dependability is absolutely wonderful. If you want a good overall camera, the G5 won't disappoint you. I've owned one now for 5 months. I also own an FZ10 and a Rebel. The Rebel, at it's best and with the right lens, shoots like the G5 at ISO 50 to 200. With the wrong lens, the G5 shatters even the Rebel. Both have excellent AF because of the Digic AF technology. It's not likely that you are ever going to find an honest person who owns a G5 who is disappointed, primarily because it's makeup works for both amatuer and experienced operators. Nice cam |
