Is an IFC-200U cable technically different to a regular Usb mini cable?

Hi, i've inherited a 7D and a bunch of lenses, which is a very nice upgrade from my old 400D.

BUT, I can not seem to get the USB port to function, and before I go and pay Canon a hundred bucks to tell me i need a branded usb cable, i thought i'd ask reddit.

I use multiple random USB mini cable with the 400D with no issue, but i'm getting nothing when plugging any of those into the 7D. Cheers!essay writer
