I just got 2 new Canon's, a S500 for my wife and a S1 IS for me. We really like them.

Anyway, problem is that when I go to harvest the pictures off the compact flash, I get identical filenames off each camera. They both give me IMG_XXXX.JPG. Is there a way to control this?

There isa menu option which controls whether it starts over in the numbering with a fresh compact flash card...but that doesn't really help.

I suppose I could just go and take 500 pictures on one of the cams...but seems like there must be a better way. I mean, doesn't Canon want you to buy multiple cameras?

You can't change the prefix.

I should save the pictures in two different folders.

I'm using "Canon A60", "Minolta Z1", "Fuji 602" and now "Canon S1".

It's working for me!!

You can change the file names as a batch or singly using cam2 pc software from nabocorp.com. It is a very good viewing program as well. Has features that no other has.
