Greetings all,

I've been playing around with my newly-owned S3IS and I'm loving it to the core. Have taken some good pics with the various mode setups. However, in the AUTO mode and the SCN-Indoor mode, the pics display considerably large grains when transferred to my laptop and I'm having to control my temper at this:-)

Please help!!!

If you check the exif data on your photos, you'll probably see ISO bumped up to 400 or higher. This is a common cause of graininess in all digital cameras. You'll be better off using the P mode rather than auto, and setting ISO to 80 or 100. If your shots come out dark, you can still lighten them with software, but you should avoid the grain (referred to as noise). If you haven't found it, there's an ISO button on the back next to the LCD that toggles through the settings, but I don't think it will do so in auto mode.

After you get the hang of things a little, then you'll want to try playing with shutter speeds and/or f-stops, but that takes a lot more patience.

Good luck,
