my s230 takes are bit yellowish i set the white balance to auto. is there anybody experiencing the same problem? any suggention to correct the problem

If your camera supports Canon RAW mode, give it a try. It will let you modify the white balance after the picture is shot. My Pro90 also lets me set custom white balance with a card before shooting a picture.

This sounds like a white balance problem. I don't think changing to .RAW mode will have any effect. In most settings using the Auto mode should work and keep the white balance at normal settings. Under daylight conditions, set the camera white balance to daylight and under indoor lighting, let's say tungsten (or whatever other settings you have) change it to tungsten. If you have a manual selection, hold a white card in front of the camera and take a reading off it.
