S30 vs A70
Any recommendations?

depends on whether you want to use add-on lenses and aa's or not. I'd personally go with the a70, because i like add-on lenses, but in the end, it's up to you. Try both of them out if you can and see which you like better.

I own the S30 and it's a great camera. The only thing I wish Canon did was use double A batteries in the S30. The A70 takes advantage of AA's and the new the Digic processor, and the photos are great.
ISO has better range in the S30, but I doubt many people are shoot at 800. For those with IBM microdrives, the S30 takes CF type II, while the A70 is only type I. Also there is no uncompressed format in the A70. S30 has a slightly larger LCD display, but shorter movie mode than the A70.

I think they are two great cameras that really come down to user preference. I'll be able to tell you a little more about A70, cause I'm buying one for my wife for mother's day, so I'll have both to compare against. But for $299, how could you go wrong.

Well I bought the A70, and it's nice...real nice, not S30 nice but nice.
