In my A710, a standard speed SD card would not handle the highest move mode 640x30 frames. It did the stills fine, of course. I then tried the Sandisk SD ultra 2 cards and they work fine.
So, although I'm not sure about your camera, I'm sure about my A710. I seem to recall reading in one review or another that the high speed card was required. I bought a 2GB Sandisk Ultra 2 at Staples for $50. |

I just spoke with Canon via phone and was told they have no plans to upgrade the S3 model in the near future.
