S400 movie mode question

I have a question for those of you who have the Powershot S400. How is the movie mode quality?

Here's a little something I took with my S330.

The problem I have with it is that if I start the movie while looking at a light source or something else really bright and then rotate the camera to a dark area, the picture gets all messed up and the camera can't compensate for the light change.

I just wanted to know if the S400's movie mode is the same way or if it can take movies like my friends Casio Elixim (7:33 - 7:55 in the clip). Like first, he's just recording the people in line, and then someone puts a glove right in front of the lens, and the camera still manages to focus.
