S400 reaction times

I am considering buying the Canon S400, but I have recently used a previous version of the camera that had very slow reaction times, it seemed like a couple of seconds between pressing the button and the picture being taken. Is this a general problem with the Elph/Ixus series?

I've heard good things about the S400, but I'd be skeptical unless you've tried it. I have the S200, it works wonders outdoors, I used it on a recent trip. Indoors, the delay from the pushing of the shutter to the actual clicking sound of it often makes me cringe. Without flash, total blurryness, even on high ISO, with flash, bad coloring and overall lighting.
