Hi Deanos,
Yes they were taken in Auto mode, though I find taking them late on a sunny day best as it makes the colours warmer. If you compare #67 and #81 it gives some idea of the difference it makes. I've taken a few indoor shots and they've turned out fine. I'll see if I can take a couple of night shots tomorrow and upload them. cheers, Pete. |

Hi,
Tried a few shots in the garden this evening. Found that when working at the far limit of the flash range (8m) it's best to use wide angle instead of tele, and set EV to +2 and ISO to 400: Pic of MTB from 8m away, +2EV ISO 400, wide/tele: http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0118.jpg http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0124.jpg Same with auto EV/ISO, for comparison: http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0114.jpg http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0123.jpg The same may also apply when using the flash at a closer range, eg 4m. Pic of MTB from 4m away, +2EV ISO 400, wide/tele: http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0130.jpg http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0132.jpg Same with auto EV/ISO, for comparison: http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0126.jpg http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/IMG_0129.jpg So I think for indoor use the flash is absolutely fine, although there may be some benefit from manual adjustment for working at the limit of it's range. cheers, Pete. |

I had decided to leave it with regards the dixon offer as amazon had already dispatched my ixus 40. but then i get an e mail from amazon saying they had tried to deliver my camera but were unable to. very strange seeing as i'd been in bed ill for the last 5 days and definately hadn't heard a knock on the door! so rather than attempt delivery again they simply issued me with a refund! their way out of having no stock??
so i've now place my order with dixons, saving myself 20 quid! their loss! |

Hihi,
Justa little video of some 'Polar Bears' that I took with the Ixus30/SD200: http://www.smileypete.dsl.pipex.com/Polar%20Bears.avi (6MB) It's compressed with the XviD codec which can be downloaded from here: http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml http://www.koepi.org/XviD-1.0.2-29082004.exe The video quality is abit lower thantheoriginal avi (65MB)from thecamera due to the compression-some 'blocking' is noticeable in the lower part of the picture which is not present in the original. Have a good Christmas all, Pete. |
