hi all. the basis of comparison is my trusty but aging (in terms of picture quality) sd750.
here is the short list. 1. continuous shooting speed of at least 1.5 fps (NON-negotiable) 2. small compact size (s90 about as big as i can put up with, and that's pushing it) 3. 3 inch NON-widescreen lcd (i will grudgingly settle for a 2.7 non-wide lcd) 4. at least a digic 4. all that said, if there is another brand/model worth comparing it to, please bring it up. OR - i'd almost be willing to go backwards to an older model that has all of the above. THANK YOU!!!! ps: i know the sd4000is is/should be out soon. i certainly hope costco decides to carry it too. i'll keep my fingers crossed as they seem to bring on the top and newest canon models, like the sd3500, s90... |

S90 is sub 1fps at .9
SX210 varies depending on the light from .7 to 2.5fps SD3500 is only .9 also You will need to move to a larger camera for higher burst rates.

Older and larger, the answer would be the Canon SX1 with a CMOS sensor.

Dennis-
I agree 100%, but camera size is a critical issue to the OP. BTW are you also "yooperguy" on dpreview?? Same style of posts. Sarah Joyce |

thanks all. just an fyi post to end this, for now. just tried out a panasonic zs6. meets all reqs, except the speed. the old sd750 still beat it. as of this am, after more hunting, i think the sony tx7 fits my needs. minor gripes, yes. for what i need it to do for ME, i think it's a match.
