What's the difference between the BP511 and the BP511A battery? I'm confused.

The 20D comes with a BP511A but the Canon web site says the camera works with a BP511 or BP512. Will a BP511 work with the 20D

I have a BP511 that is a non-canon version (more capacity, costs less) and it works fine in the 20D.

I believe the BP511A is the same but with more capacity. Holds more power.

I also havenon-Canon brand BP511 compatible batterries I use with my 20D. They're rated at 1800mAh...which meanshigher capacity than the original Canon battery. Got two of these babies from ebay for $8.95 plus $6.95 shipping.

That was a great price AlpineMan. I got mine fromsterlingtek.com and now still in the process of testing it.
I have a 300D/Rebel and with Canon battery, I was able to shot 357 pix all with flash and lots of on camera viewing.
With the 511a that I just got, it's rated at 1800mAh, I'm hoping to get about 450-500 pixwith flash on.
I'm thinking that the regular 511 is 7.2v, and the 511a is 7.4v like the Canon battery (but with more amperage).
