Update (for anyone intrested), I sent the lens off to Sigma after extensive research and trying everything under the sun. Just got it back today and it works perfectly. It needed a rechip & Sigma only charged me $10 for the return shipping, they didn't care it was out of warranty. I have to give props to Sigma for their excellent customer service, it took about 10 days to send it and get it back.Thanks for all the advise.

I LOVE this lense. I have not had the same problem you are experience.
