24-85 lens and would like to add on a longer lens. I thinking of Sigma"s or Canon 70-300. What would be a good street prices? Would like to hear your opinions.

Did you also check Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6? It has a 1:2 (0.5 enlargement) macro at the 180mm upto 300mm. It is not too expensive and gives some decent results http://www.pbase.com/cameras/tamron/af_70300_456_macro
Build is quite good. Only be forwarned downside is slowish autofocus (but I have heard Sigma is no better). |
