I've just returned from a trip "back east" which was my first chance to shoot with my new Canon Rebel 300D w/28-300 Tameron Lens (I've been using an Olympus C-730 UZ). See the new "Virginia Beauty" album for the 300D shots at the link below. I've been pleased - very intuitive, easy to figure out controls and feels great in my hand (this Tameron lens in very pleasant to use). I've had a tendency to underexpose shots, but less so the more I use. I have been especially pleased editing in PSE - the unsharp mask really impacts these photos more than my OLY C730. I've been shooting in the RAW mode and converting to TIFF. The Canon software for the download and conversion is a lot slower than my OLY download software, but pretty close to the download times specified in the software manual. All-in-all, this upgrade has exceeded my expectations!

Great color in the Barn and Church shots especially. Its amazing how red barns glow in the morning and evening light. Thanks for posting them.

You've captured some fine pictures. It's good to see the 300D being put to such good use. And it was particularly interesting to see some output from the Tamron 28-300 - it seems like a pretty decent lens. I'm considering a hyperzoom myself...

I like it - haven't tried it with motion shots yet. I might miss the IS, but I typically don't shoot a lot of motion shots any way. The four frame rapid fire offers very fast capture. I'll probably get a 400mm with IS some time down the road. Good luck.
