Christmas has come, the presents have been opened and the Turkey dinner has been eaten. How is the time to play with the new toys and in my case it's a new Canon 40D. Hopefully the 40D is a good camera choice, guess time (and some training from everyone at Steve's) will tell.

Congrats Craig! I'm looking forward to hearing your review of the camera and seeing some pictures.

Thanks Jim,

Here a first attempt with the new camera, at least one of the those that came out. Having a bit of trouble focusing using the auto mode indoors, more reading required I guess.

Nice choice Craig! yes, in time you'll see it's a great camera!

I got one yesterday, have taken 10 shots and can already tell the diffrences from my 20D, here's the best of the 10.

No flash, hand held, f2.8, 1/25s, 800iso

KeithT,

Your picture came out great, something I'm not getting with the camera (at least yet). I having a focusing problem, sometimesit will focus on what I want other times it does just doesn't seem to like what I'm looking at at the time. Going back to reading the instruction book to see if it's something I'm doing (not that I make mistakes, ha, ha) wrong.

Thanks,

Craig

Craig,
Looks like the metering or focus points are off, what AF points are you using? Metering mode? Kit lens? What were your camera settings?

Took this one in auto mode using the flash, no post processing, just resized.
