Default EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens Hood

Am I correct in assuming the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM doesn't come with the lens hood?

... looking to fill the gap in my lenses!

You are correct. It doesn't come with a lens hood. I just purchased the lens, and had to buy the hood separately.

What a bummer hey... What are they thinking? Every other 3rd party include a shaped hood (and fitted case) as standard with their lenses, and here Canon is making us pays for should have been an essential part of the lens! (It must be flare free then... :lol

What's wrong with just adding the lens hood to the price of the lens package? This surely costs less than a separate SKU# to inventory and the separate packaging that this device come in, which then the consumers have to buy seperately...

Come to think of it, it looks like except for thoses few Fisheyes and super-Teles where its built-in, this is a standard practice for Canon! (This smell just like fabric protector or fitted floor mats at the car dealers... )

both my 24-70 f2.8L USM and my 70-200 f2.8L IS USM came with hoods and cases. but then again at those prices i probably paid for each of those items 2-3 times.

Well, I can say that the 100-400L comes with a good lens sized hood. But I do agree, it seems rather cheap to me.
