Hi, after using my 2x third party teleconverte on the 30D ( and it worked reasonally well) I didn't have my focus confirmation beep or green dot when I tried using the camera and another lens. I was using the converter on manual because the focus was hunting too much on auto, (the lens was f/4). That evening I put on my 1.8 50mm and no go with the focus confirmation...I tried other lens, same thing. I finally took the camera back to factory defaults and it was fine. The lens was expensive for me and I don't want to damage it with a cheap converter. Or was it something I did. I don't remember changing any focus modes etc...so anyone got a clue to this question....donna

did u check if the AF mode is in Single point

in case of AF-Servo one wont get a confirmation(the green light). U may hear a beep that keeps repeating as the servo is trying to track the object, or atleast it tries so.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"and this beep isnt the normal loud one. its pretty subtle.

Also just clean the tele converter contact pins before attaching the lens as well as the tele conv to the camera. Could be dust thats not conveying the correct message to the camera board.

Well I set the camera to factory defaults and that did it...I don't know if I should put the converter back on...I don't want to keep resetting the factory defaults as I loose my custom settings. donna

u shud try it out. Coz one day or other u will have to do it. And procrastination is evil:blah:

Just kidding.,

what i meant was, u shud experiment with the settings. And anyway u can write down the steps u r taking to make that adjustments. U can always revert back

This will help u gain confidence over the equipment where it will become a toy than a big time possession. Meaning u would have more control over it.

And for safety u always have the SET DEFAULTS

loose = something is not tight

LOSE = something is lost or not saved

sorry, one of my pet peeves as just about every other person spells this wrong

Cheers!

These teleconverters will not work on lenses less than 70mm, so that may be the problem....
