I have a Canon rebel xt and a Canon 580ex flash. The flash pics seem to be inconsistant and I'm wondering if my focus points have anything to do with it. One shot will be ok but the next one will be grossly under exposed. I wait for a good charge so I'm not shooting too soon. I shot in a hall where the walls were far away and the shots were identical except for, perhaps the focus point.
Any ideas???:?
Thanks.

Can you post some examples?

Have you try to use Flash Exposure Lock (FEL)...
-> This feature overides the camera's "evaluation" mode
