Hello, all

Really random query about the 20/30D (they're essentially the same) for those that shoot with them. When you (don't laugh) rotate the shutter button, as in turn the bit of plastic that constitutes the button, does it make a clicking sound?
Mine does, and yet I swear it didn't used to? Or at least definately not as loud, because I don't recall it making a sound before. But I don't know how it could have become damaged as I've not used it for well over a week and its just been in the bag (apart from crossing the country on my back on my way back to uni)

Anyway, I'm babbling. 20/30D users -if you spin your shutter button plastic with your finger, does it click (either way? Mine clicks in the clockwise direction)

Sorry for the randomness - and thanks

Hopefully I've made myself clear enough.

How loud? As loud as the main control jog wheel, would you say? (the one at the top)¬_¬

Sorry, slightly concerned about this. I emailed Canon Tech support too, hopefully they'll be able to tell me whether its a problem. I mean, its not like the button has stopped working so, hey.

I think that is just a casing, a cover over the actual mechanism that fires the shutter.
It's a free running piece and the clicking, to me anyway, simply sounds like it touching the bit beneath it or even your finger 'clicking', or sticking/unsticking off it.
Really don't think there is anything to worry about ;-)

I guess I'm wondering why you would rotate it in the first place? I've never noticed mine clicking in the year and half I've owned it because I've never tried to rotate it.

The shutter button on my 20D doesn't make a sound when I rotate it. It spins very easily though.

Just tried it on my 30d and shutter button does not spin. I don't think it is anything to worry about though.
